How to Become Financially Free

What does it honestly take to become financially free? What would it feel like to live life without having to worry about bills and money? To not have worry about retirement? To be able to have your house, car, vacations, and everything paid for.

Well … I can tell you that there have been times when I’ve not had a dollar to my name. There were times as well when I’ve also made hundreds of thousands of dollars a month, so I know a thing or two about becoming financially free and the struggle to get there.

Keep in mind that becoming financially free doesn’t happen overnight. There’s no one-push button to make a million dollars instantly. If you’re seeking something like that, you should find something else to read because you won’t find it here.

I am going to be real with you because success isn’t easy and it takes blood, sweat, and tears to reach your goal. So back to the burning question: how can one become financially free?

The first thing you must do is figure out what financial freedom means to you because it’s different for everyone.

Financial freedom for me, for the longest time, was just to make enough money to be happy, not to have to worry about my car payments, foods, and other essentials. Fast forward to now: financial freedom is much different for me now. I no longer worry about money, bills, gas, and food, but I still set big goals.

I would like to make 100 million a year and be able to grow beyond my dreams. Although I am pretty much set for the rest of my life doing what I do now, I still have dreams and goals because I love to help people.

The more money I can earn with my business, the more people I can help create freedom in their lives. The first thing you must figure out, then, is what financial freedom means to you.

What are some of the things you would like to have in your life, material-wise, that you don’t have now? Write them down.

Financial Freedom Thinking

Once you have written down your own definition of financial freedom, the next step is to take action towards fulfilling those goals. For example, if you seek to make an extra $1,000 a month, you will need to start learning new skills to increase your earnings.

When I first started, I looked at what I was good at and what I was passionate about. Passion and talent go hand in hand, and you need to build your income around those two things.

There are a million ways for you to gain financial freedom, but if you gain financial freedom doing it in the way you don’t fully love or even like, then all the money in the world won’t make you happy.

For some people, financial freedom isn’t only about money, it’s also about having more time in their day to spend with loved ones, to be able to relax, and to have time away from their responsibilities.

Money is nice, I won’t deny that, but it’s not what I value most in life. Health, happiness, love, and giving to others is far more valuable to me than money.

If you had all the money in the world, and you were on your deathbed, do you think you can find someone who would trade places with you? Probably not. After all, as they say, you can’t take your money with you when you die. Health is indeed far more important than a piece of paper that has a number in it.

The Real Secret to Financial Freedom

The real secret to financial freedom is about putting your passions + talents + efforts into play.

Effort is all about how long you’re willing to stay in the game to reach financial freedom for yourself. If you think financial freedom will happen in a month, and you’re not willing to keep trying after that, then I am pretty sure you will never attain your goal. Yes, it’s possible to be financially free in less than a month, but it’s not likely.

You must continue to push forward. Even when you feel you can no longer push forward towards your dreams and goals, you still must make an effort to continue. Think of each day as a single step that you take. You might only have to take a hundred steps to reach financial freedom. On the other hand, you might have to take a thousand, or even a million. So just push on.

When I hit rock bottom, I made a promise to myself that I would take an unlimited amount of steps to reach my destination. When you have that type of mindset and commitment for your life then nothing will stand in your way, not only to financial freedom but towards other goals as well that you put your mind to.

Financial freedom isn’t hard to obtain when you have the right mindset on what you want to achieve and where you want to go. Every new day is a day that’s given to you to move closer to your own definition of being financially free.

Now you might be telling yourself—I don’t make enough money, I don’t have any education, I don’t have help, I am too old to get there, and whatever else you can come up with.

Listen and listen well. Most of the world’s most successful people made it to where they are now based on their own initiative. Some did it even without a dollar to their name. Most dropped out of school, created a life they loved, and didn’t care about what other people said they could and could not do. They just did what they felt they had to do to pursue their dream of financial freedom.

You, too, must become obsessed almost to the point of madness with your dreams and goals, otherwise you will just get average results that will do nothing for you—except give you an average life. No one wants that, right?

So remember this: passions + talents + continuous effort = unlimited possibilities.

Nothing is impossible, and if you really start to live by that then you will start to see the world around you change, grow, and become the life you deserve. If I had settled for average, I don’t know where I would be by now, but I do know that it’s a place where I wouldn’t like to be. Listen to your inner voice because it knows what is best for you. If others tell you not to go down the path you wish to follow, ignore them.

Most people don’t take risks on their dreams so when you do, they become jealous. They might even get angry with you, which is just how they express their envy and frustration that you’re doing what you were meant to do. When you push yourself every day towards greatness, you will no longer have to find financial freedom in your life because financial freedom will be trying to find you. In a sense, it will only be catching up to the massive actions that you have taken to get there.
