7 Lessons I Learned Going from Zero to $30k a Month in Under a Year

Your time is limited, don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma, which is living the result of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other opinions drown your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition, they somehow already know what you truly want to become. -Steve Jobs

When I first started my path as an entrepreneur over 10 years ago, I told myself I would love to earn 100k a year. Fast forward to today: I still want to make a 100k, but it’s not for a year, anymore, it’s for a month! LOL I guess you can say I have changed my mind on what I would like to make in my work. I have stepped up the game. Here’s the crazy thing about wanting to make a 100k a month, though: I have hit that mark a few times already!

My goal right now is to make 100k a month regularly, every single month, non-stop. And who’s to say I can’t make more? No one, and that’s the truth.

Indeed, if you set your goals so high that they just seem impossible or crazy to achieve, you will be at a loss for words when you do achieve them. At that point, you will realize that anything is possible and nothing can stand in your way to getting what you want in life.

I have learned a lot of lessons in making money, and I can freely share with you that I earn more than 30k a month now on average, which, if I may say so, is truly incredible. Before I established my online business, I worked for a company for an entire year, earning only around 15k for that year. I worked full time and it was hard work that I didn’t enjoy. Doing what I now do, I have earned over 15k in just one day. Yeah, that’s right: I was able to make in one day what I earned over the course of a year working for someone else.

That should tell you that doing what you love truly pays off. Not only do I get to do what I love doing, I also make great money from it. If I can do it, so can you, too, if you really want it hard enough. No one can stop you from doing what you love.

I don’t want you to get the idea that I’m just bragging about my earnings because that’s not my intention. I have had to work my butt off to get to where I am, and it definitely didn’t happen overnight. Some people in my industry try to fool others into thinking it’s as easy as pushing a button to make tens of thousands a month, but I tell you honestly, it’s not. It gets easier once you get to the point of making that much each month, but getting to that point is the hard part.

So if someone tells you it’s easy to earn 30k a month, don’t believe them, they may just be scamming you. It’s hard work, plain and simple. On the other hand, don’t be envious, too, of someone making that much because they worked for it and earned it. I know people doing exactly what I do and make ten times what I make. I am not envious of them; I am happy for them because they kick ass!

Rather than be envious, try to learn from their achievements.

Here are seven lessons I learned in my journey towards making 30k a month in just under a year.

Set both realistic goals and dream goals because anything is possible

I’m sure you want to make millions a month; I mean, who doesn’t? However, that’s not a realistic goal, not for you and not for me. What I do focus on is something that I can realistically work towards. For example, when I first started out, I made zero and didn’t know what to do in order to hit my dream goal of a 100k per year. Rather than just give up, I focused on achieving smaller segments of my dream goal, and when I reached them, I just kept working towards bigger goals that I knew I could break through.

Let’s examine this further. It’s really important for you to do something like this because it’s been proven to help people in achieving their dream goals. Making a 100k a year is doable because I have done it myself. However, what I didn’t do is shoot for the 100k right off the bat. What I did was to focus on making my first dollar online. I focused on learning everything I could to understand how everything works. Once I made my first dollar, I moved on to focusing on making yet another dollar.

I know that making a single dollar is nothing compared to what your dream goals might be, but hey it’s a heck of a lot more than a big fat zero. It might not seem like making a few bucks is a big deal, but it is because a huge percent of people try to set their goals so high it’s all they focus on and they never even make their first dollar. The same rule applies to those wanting to lose weight. You can’t expect to drop 50 pounds in a month, not if you want to sustain it, anyway. You have to be willing to fail and learn from your failures over time. You have to understand that failure isn’t losing at all, it’s only one way not to do something.

Look at some of the biggest brands out there that have had failures before they became household names. If they didn’t focus on what mattered most for them, they wouldn’t be where they are today.

For example, the concept of Starbucks was rejected 242 times. Walt Disney was turned down 302 times before he got financing to create Disney World.

Stephen King was rejected 30 times. It got to a point where he threw his book into the trash, frustrated at being rejected again and again. His wife retrieved the book and encouraged him to submit it elsewhere and not give up. The rest is history. Stephen King has sold more than 350 million copies of his books worldwide.

Countless people have wanted to make millions and some came close to giving up, but they took that first step to making it real. Some achieved their dreams, others didn’t. Regardless of their success or failure, they all took that first step towards achieving their dream.

Indeed, it is only the people who keep on trying despite their failures that finally succeed. The only people who fail are those who quit trying.

Success doesn’t come easy. Take small steps; you can make your first dollar if you focus on it. Once you achieve that small win, work towards climbing the next step, and the next, and the next. Keep duplicating your small successes until you reach the dream goal you have set for yourself.

Be willing to fail and never let failure stop you from what you want in life

Everyone fails at something at some point in their life. The difference between the people who become successful and those who don’t is not because of failure, it’s because they quit.

Failure isn’t what stops someone being successful. Failure only really becomes failure when you no longer try. When you don’t get back up after having failed, this is when you truly fail.

Some of my biggest wins have come from my failures. I learned from them, I grew from experiencing them, and they are why I am where I am at today. It had been a hard journey as there were quite a few bumps along the way, but I never gave up.

Remember, you will only succeed and achieve your dream if you continue to get up after failing, no matter how many times it happens. Every successful person in the world has failed at one time or another, and it didn’t stop them. It just made them more motivated than ever to continue on the path to their dream goals.

Cultivate the positive mindset

Your mindset is the most powerful tool you have to become successful. If you blame everything and everyone around you for your failure, you will learn nothing from your failure and you won’t grow from it. What it comes down to is you and you alone. Take responsibility for your failures and learn from them. Stay positive that every failure you have will take you closer to your dreams.

Your mindset is powerful; think positive and you will attract positive vibes in your business. You command what happens in your life; it all starts in your mind. By staying positive, you will have higher chances of achieving your dream.

The only real constant in life is change itself

This one is really obvious when you work online as I do. In our business, something that worked last year probably will not work anymore this year. The internet changes so fast it’s almost impossible to keep up. It’s a bit annoying if you think about it; you struggle how to learn to do something and by the time you’ve figured it out, it’s already outdated. It’s frustrating, but it’s how the internet works. If you make it your business to earn online, there’s nothing you can do but keep learning.

I am the type of person who likes to apply myself and grow as a person each day. I love learning and trying new things. One of the biggest lessons I have learned from making money online is that nothing is constant except change. You have to learn to adapt to it and grow, otherwise you will not be able to hit those big months.

Always be willing to change because change is good. No matter how challenging it can get, try to keep up.

Never do anything that keeps you awake at night

One of my very first jobs was as a marketer selling terrible products on how to make money online. Those products cost $10,000-20,000. I had no idea how terrible those products were when I started working there; I was just told that customers get their money’s worth when they buy the coaching packages and products. After a few months of working there I caught on that, in effect, the customers were getting robbed big time.

When I realized the business was just scamming people, I left. I knew that I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night, knowing that I was selling products that don’t work. I was making good money at that time, something around 5k a week, but when I realized the truth, I wanted to give my money back to the people. I felt guilty.

My business now and that company I worked for before is like night and day. Businesses like theirs only earn money by ripping people off. They would go to extreme lengths to scam people. Needless to say, most of those kinds of businesses end up getting shut down by the FTC. It’s only right; none of them have helped people achieve their dreams.

If you have to rip people off in order to make money, I assure you, you won’t get anywhere in life. I urge you not to go down that path. It’s hard not to be swayed by greed, but when you do fall for it, it will come back to bite you in the ass someday.

Yeah, you might make good money for a time by ripping off people, but it’s not a sustainable business and you won’t be able to sleep at night, knowing your success is at the expense of other people. Don’t fall for greed because the only thing greed will do is to make you miserable in the end.

Be willing to walk the path less traveled and always create something you are proud of

The entire point to being an entrepreneur is doing something that makes you happy and fulfilled in life.

When we grow up we’re told to go to school, work for others, and retire. What we are not told is to try things that might not work, like being a skydiver. In most cases, we will be told that skydiving is a waste of money and time.

The fact is that some people make a damn good living at skydiving. They kept at it despite what others have said, and now they are enjoying their success.

You can’t ever know success if you don’t get out of your comfort zone and try unconventional things. If you choose to just go with the flow and do what a million other people do, there won’t be much room for success. You will just be another cog in a wheel, marking time in your small cubicle from 9 to 5 until your retirement.

The crazy thing is that while a lot of people are scared of failure, there are also those who are scared of success. I know people who think that being successful on their own is worse than working for someone for the next 50 years. They tell me that they like their 401k plan, their vacation time, the people they work with, and how they make okay money for the work they do.

Really? I don’t want to sound like an asshole here, but that’s a bunch of horse SHIT! Don’t settle and just get by just because you have been told it’s the smart thing to do. If being smart is working 9 to 5 in a small cubicle and having a 401k plan, vacation time, and making okay money, then I am happy to say I am the stupidest person in the world because I choose to have the exact opposite of those things.

Some of those people who believe that working for others is the smart thing to do will probably faint when they learn that being conventional isn’t the right way to go when it comes to making money. Just the title of this blog post alone, “7 Lessons I Learned Going from Zero to $30k a Month in Under a Year” would show them the error of their thinking. As Steve Jobs have said:

Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes… The ones who see things differently — they’re not fond of rules… You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things…. They push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.

Don’t do things just because people told you it’s the normal thing to do. Don’t believe them that having a job is the smart thing to do. For when you do walk the path less traveled, you will learn how wrong they are. On this path that you alone have taken, you will find your true self and that’s what makes your life worth living.

-Steve Jobs

Life is incredible when you realize that money is just money

A lot of people think that success comes from having a lot of money. Heck, I used to think the same thing, too. Once I realized that money is just money, I started to see what life is really all about.

I’ve often said that I wished people could realize all their dreams of wealth and fame so they could see that it’s not where you’ll find your sense of completion. -Jim Carrey

Having all the money in the world isn’t going to make you feel fulfilled. Life is about doing the things you love doing before any monetary reward. You can make millions working for someone else, but still hate your life because you are not doing what your heart really desires.

I have made tens of thousands of dollars before, doing things I didn’t like. Now that I am finally doing the things I love, money flows more easily for me. I have money, and I enjoy what I do. It’s a win-win situation for me.

Don’t base your happiness off money because that’s what everyone else wants around you. What you should really do is sit and think of what kind of work gives you fulfillment. Once you know, do it, despite what anyone may say.

Your job is not to figure out how it’s going to happen for you, but to open the door in your head and when the doors open in real life, just walk through it. Don’t worry if you miss your cue. There will always be another door opening. They keep opening. -Jim Carrey

Life is an opportunity that you have to be willing to live by. If you never take chances then you will always be wondering if life would have been different if you took the chance. What if you followed your dream and you succeeded? What if you took a risk? What if ___________?

What ifs are not fun; what ifs are depressing. Don’t have any what ifs in your life!

Do the things you love and don’t let anyone stop you. If you listen to others and don’t follow your heart, you will be living a life full of regrets.

You are ready and able to do beautiful things in this world and after you walk through those doors today, you will only ever have two choices: love or fear. Choose love, and don’t ever let fear turn you against your playful heart. -Jim Carrey

Choose love; live your life the way you deserve to live it, and never let anyone stop you!
