3 Tips to Get People to Open, Read, and Take Action with Email
Whether you believe it or not email is here to stay and it’s the driving force of many major companies including mine. I check my email multiple times throughout the day and sometimes it’s the first thing I do when I wake up.
As crazy as it sounds email is the most used communication tool today and it’s also one of the most profitable forms of of advertising. People get dozens and sometimes hundreds of emails every day checking it multiple times throughout the day. Some emails get lost in the spam folder but there are still hundreds of emails the people skip over never opening them because they lack in many things.
Here are 3 tips to you should start implementing to get the most out of your email efforts.
Tip One: Create your subject line to make their curiosity light turn on.
There are many things that can make someone’s curiosity turn on and theirs no better place than in your email subject line. The Ultimate goal you’re trying to achieve is to first have them read your subject line, make their curiosity light turn on, open the email and click on your link within the email.
None of this can come to happen if your email subject line lacks the curiosity factor. Write an email subject line about what they want, and how they can get it at an acceptable cost (in money, time, effort, etc.).
There is an 80/20 rule to email subject lines, and this rule is that eight out of ten people will read the headline and only 2 out of ten will click into the email and read what’s inside. This is why you must write killer headlines that will make their curiosity light turn on.
Email subject lines, should:
- Be USEFUL to the reader,
- Provide them with a sense of URGENCY SCARCITY,
- Convey the idea that the subject line is somehow UNIQUE; and
- Do all of the above in an ULTRA-SPECIFIC way that makes them think it’s special.
Here are some questions you can ask yourself before writing a email subject line:
- Does your subject line offer the reader a reward for reading it?
- What specifics could you add to make your subject line more intriguing and believable to the reader?
- Does your subject line trigger a strong, actionable emotion that the reader might already have?
- Does your subject line present a proposition that will instantly get your prospect nodding his or her head after reading it?
- Could you add an element of intrigue and curiosity to drive the prospect into your email, which will result in them taking one step closer to becoming a customer?
It takes hard work and focus, but the effort will make you a more profitable affiliate marketer.
Tip two: when it comes to email you need to keep it short and simple.
Most people that are checking their email don’t want to sit there and read each one and even if they did have the time the last thing they want to do is sit and open each one and read it start to finish. If you do get lots of emails that are getting opened but not click throughs then you might want to start asking yourself: Are my emails complicated and long?
If you write 1000 word emails then you need to cut them down significantly in size because even if people would get a lot out of the emails you send they don’t really care to sit there and read them. After all, they get hundreds of emails a day so you really need to make sure all your emails are worth reading.
If you yourself don’t care much for the emails you write then how can you expect other people to read them if you yourself don’t care much for the. Keep it simple, short, and extremely useful in terms of what you put and write within your newsletters and emails.
Tip three: Always check for typos and errors.
Before you send out or save an email in your email follow up series in your email marketing software you will always want to check for errors and typos. A poorly composed email can make you appear unprofessional, careless or uneducated in what you are trying to get across.
If your subject line has misspelled words, then chances are they will just hit the delete button and more on. When it comes to email your headline is the most import and aspect so follow these strategies not only in the subject line itself but throughout your entire email, website, Ads, landing pages, and everything you do.
